Albert Larry Armstrong, Sr.December 31, 1943 ~ November 1, 2017 (age 73)
Albert Larry Armstrong, Sr., age 73, of Smyrna, Delaware died at home with his family around him on Wednesday, November 1, 2017.
He was born on December 31, 1943 in Easton, Maryland, the son of the late Arthur B. and M. Elizabeth DeFord Armstrong.
Larry loved the time spent in his youth growing up on the farm of his Uncle Buddy’s and Aunt Emily Chance DeFord’s family farm, along with his cousin Charlie.
Mr. Armstrong worked for over 40 years in the auto repair trade, including Willis Chevrolet, where he met his wife Helen McQuail, and as proprietor of ArMc repair service where he retired in 2003.
Concurrent with his career as an Auto Mechanic, Larry served for many years in the Delaware Army National Guard and farmed as a lifelong passion by wheel and hoof. This passion was tempered only by his love of family and a calling to help others.
He is survived by his wife, Helen M. Armstrong (nee McQuail); five children, Kimberly J. Armstrong and her fiancée Matthew S. Tower, Anna M. Armstrong and her fiancée James L. Glancey, A. Larry Armstrong, Jr. and his wife Kathleen M. Armstrong (nee Cummins), Helen L. Furber and her husband James R. Furber, Sr., and John A. Armstrong and his wife Jessica R. Armstrong (nee Rockey); eight grandchildren, Katrina N. Furber, James R. Furber, Jr., B. Quinn Stoops, J. Alexander Armstrong, Sarah E. Armstrong, Carter M. Armstrong, Adaira M. Armstrong, and Karis R. Armstrong. He is also survived by his sister, Wilma L. Carey.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 5 pm to 7 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 7 pm. Burial will be privately held at a later date.
