Alice R. Hohman, age 88, of Smyrna, Delaware went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.
Mrs. Hohman was born on May 14, 1930 in Wilmington, Delaware, the daughter of the late William Delaney and Edna (Wyatt) Hayes.
She retired from Rothwells Garage as a Bookkeeper and previously worked for George H. Hoffecker and Holden Dodge.
Alice was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Smyrna Fire Company. She was also a member of the Smyrna-Clayton 4th of July Committee and was a Treasurer of the Democratic Party in Smyrna.
One of her favorite things was joining the 1930’s Pen Pal Club in which she got to travel the country for their annual picnics. She was also on the committee to preserve the Smyrna Library and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and enjoyed working for their annual Christmas Bazaar.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Edward Alfree; her 2nd husband, Edward Hohman; two sisters, Edna Phillips and Frances Delaney; and her brother, William Delaney.
She is survived by her children, Alice Mehaffey and her husband James of Dover, Bonnie Steele and her husband Ken of Smyrna, and Michael Hohman and his wife Misty of Laurel Springs, NC; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; her brother, Henry Hayes and his wife Sandy of Des Moines, Iowa; and extended family.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 6 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna. Memorial services will begin at 7pm. Burial will be private.
