Mud Run Charity
Armeta Thompson Scott was welcomed into this world by her parents Oliver Thompson and Marie Stokes Thompson on June 14, 1943 in Richmond, Virginia. After a life filled with energy and enthusiasm, she passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019 in Dover, DE at the age of 75.
Armeta worked in the insurance industry for 39 years, but always said her part-time job at Hallmark after she retired was the best job she ever had, because of the people. Customers and coworkers alike benefitted from her warm-hearted and candid advice, as well as her sense of humor and unending kindness.
A true people person, Armeta delighted in listening to and connecting with others. When she went into a store, she was likely to come out with whatever she was buying and a new friend or two! She said ”I love you” freely and often, didn’t wait for a special occasion to give gifts, and was powered by joy and optimism.
The kindness she embodied was not just limited to people. Animals, especially cats, were near and dear to her heart and she shared a home with many furry friends over the years.
She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Gloria.
She is survived by her husband, Othello M. Scott, III; her daughter, Jaime Rhodes and longtime boyfriend Mico Medina; her former husband and continued friend James "Jim" Collins; son, Dwayne Scott and wife Lolita, and step-son Jeff Scott and wife Annie; as well as members of extended family and many fond friends, including her best friend of forever Ann Rice. Her presence will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
In honor and celebration of Armeta’s life, be kind, be generous, and be joyful.
