AJ Kulhanek, 23 years old of Smyrna, Delaware passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 3rd, 2019. Although the youngest of his family, AJ was very worldly, experiencing a lot of life, with both the ups and downs that come with it.
From the moment he was born, April 25th, 1996, AJ was the light of his family’s life, always outgoing and caring. He was the type of person to instantly make friends with you regardless of your personality and interests, all thanks to his large heart. AJ attended Smyrna Schools and in his youth, participated in the Smyrna Opera House’s summer plays. AJ was talented and creative ever since he was young, first by hamming it up on stage and then eventually evolving to his passion for art and photography. His latest passion in life was music and cars, often attending car shows and rallies, making new friends everywhere he went. AJ was always looking for his next adventure, his boyfriend Robert by his side. His smile and love of life were contagious.
AJ is survived by his parents Cynthia and Walter Kulhanek, Jr., his maternal grandmother Elizabeth Campbell of Smyrna, his paternal grandfather Walter Kulhanek, Sr. of Dover, his older siblings Crystal, Nick, Lee and Mandy, as well as his fur-baby Skylar. AJ was loved dearly by his many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews as well as his close friends, too numerous to mention here.
A celebration of AJ’s life will be held with a viewing on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 4 to 6 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 6 pm. Burial will be held at a later date.
