Robison, David Eric Sr.
David Eric Robison Sr., expert cook, foodie extraordinaire, accomplished traveler, closeted decorator and downright incredible man, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at the age of 71.
A native of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Dave proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, he joined the private sector, working for General Foods and Scottish & York before moving on to his most rewarding position as 1st Vice President for MBNA. He would remain in this post until his much-deserved retirement in 2002.
Dave was preceded in death by the love of his life Patricia A. Robison. He will lovingly be remembered by his children, Alisa (Bob), Sabrina (Sean), David Jr., step-children Judy (Greg), and Steven (Jeannie). Dave will also be remembered by the grandchildren who adored him, Breanna, Robert, Michael, Jeffrey, Amanda, Baylee, and Abigail and his siblings Greg (Gina) Robison, and Cheryl Irby. Dave was predeceased by his brother Michael Robison and sister Jeneane Darlene Jones. He will also be forever remembered by his extended family and dear friends.
Dave had a life-long love affair with food; from savory to sweet. He could cook a meal like no other! Despite his incredible talents in the kitchen, he also loved to take his family and friends out for a meal, sparing no expense; Dave had a special propensity for over-ordering, often filling the table with as many appetizers as there were guests!
As a point of pride, Dave loved to share the accomplishments of his grandchildren, showering praise upon them as a reflection of both their successes and the successes of his own children. In the moments spent on other topics, he was always happy to share stories of his many world travels, most notably his 38 trips to Maui and his unabated love for the iconic humpback whale. Much like the whales, he and Patricia were sure to make their annual migration to paradise.
Finally, Dave will be remembered for his funny, carefree personality, epitomized by a few of his famous phrases. Anyone that spent much time with Dave was sure to hear, “sorry I blew up!” in response to small mistakes or slips of the tongue. After these encounters, lovely meals, or family vacations, we can certainly remember his frequent parting words, “love ya turkey lips.” Surely, it was these words that he left us with as he went to meet his beloved Patricia.
Visitation will take place on November 19, 2018 from 11:00am-12:30pm at Fairies Funeral Home, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, DE 19977. Memorial services will begin at 12:30pm. A Committal service will take place at 2:00 p.m., at the Delaware Veteran’s Memorial, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear, DE 19701.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the PKD Foundation.
In closing, the family asks that in honor of Dave you make the most of everyday! Smell the plumeria, enjoy your family and friends, and for damn sure… get to MAUI!
