Emma Jean Johnson, age 82, of Smyrna, Delaware, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018.
Mrs. Johnson was born on April 30, 1936 in Dover, Delaware, the daughter of the late Alfred and Emma (Bailey) Shane, Sr.
Jean was a loving homemaker who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and crafting. She loved country music and was a talented musician. There wasn’t an instrument that she couldn’t play, nor a song that she couldn’t sing.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her late husband, Paul Toby Johnson; and her son, Ricky Johnson.
She is survived by her three daughters, Debbie O’Brien and her husband Matt of Middletown, Delaware, Donna Brown and her husband Russell of Smyrna, Delaware, and Michelle Johnson of Dover, Delaware; nine grandchildren, Amy, Katie, Eric, Sara, Ricky, Jr., Allie, Todd, Shelby, and Aria; four great grandchildren; and great grandchild on the way; her step-granddaughter, Colleen O'Brien; and many extended family members including a sister, four brothers, cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Kelly Johnson Barker.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 11 am at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna, Delaware.
In lieu of flowers, Jean would have liked for everyone to take $20 to Dover Downs to play on a slot machine.
