J. Kenneth Moore, Sr., “Kenny,” age 77, of Dover, Delaware went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 7, 2018. He was surrounded by his family.

Mr. Moore was born on May 25, 1940 in Dover, Delaware, the son of the late Joseph P. Moore and Louise (Masten) Moore.

Kenny grew up on a dairy farm and continued farming most of his life. He graduated from Dover High School and soon began his own business building cabinets, then started building custom homes. He built Hickory Dale in Dover and most recently built Moore’s Meadows in Northeast Dover, which was the farm that he grew up on. Kenny was a tireless builder and farmer. He focused on farming much of his life and was recognized with many awards from the National Corn Growers Association.

He also served his country with honor in the Delaware Army National Guard.

Kenny loved to spend time with family and was always ready with a good joke! Friends knew if they needed help, Kenny would be there. He enjoyed hunting with friends and was a big Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. He was proud to watch his grandkids play sports.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son; and his sisters, Marianna Johnson and Connie Starkey.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 57 years, Josie; his daughters, Pam & (Paul) McNamara and Paula & (Jeff) Lawrence; his son, Kenny & (Connie) Moore, Jr.; his grandchildren; Brad, Lindsay and Ryan McNamara, Ashley, Amanda and Abbey Lawrence, and Brooke and Lexi Moore; five great grandchildren; his sisters, Josie Strong and Debbie & (Rusty) Jack; his brother-in-laws, Dickie Johnson and Louis Starkey; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm and again on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 10 to 11 am in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna, Delaware. Celebration of life services will begin Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11 am.

Burial will follow at Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Farm Bureau, 3457 S. Dupont Hwy., Camden, DE 19934.
