Janell Lynette Adkins was born December 8, 1964, in Dover, Delaware, to Edith Mae Lewis (Adkins) and Paul Scott (Baynard).
Janell was known as “Nellie” or “Bun-Bun” given to her by family and friends. Janell grew up in Capital School District. She graduated from Dover High School, in 1984. Janell attended Delaware Technical & Community College, where she received her Certificate for Certified Nursing Assistant, in 1989.
Janell loved spending time with family and friends, she had a smile that brightened the room. Janell was very kind-hearted, loving, and caring. Janell was very humble and would give her last to anyone in need.
She was a wonderful Mother, Sister, Aunt, Friend, and Grandmother. The sun set on Janell’s life on November 10, 2018, surrounded by the love of immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Adkins (sister) Oscar Adkins (brother) Kenji Adkins (nephew) and best friend Markita Moorman.
Janell leaves to cherish her life and memories: her children Anthony, Courtney, Joshua, JaCouri, Paul (Takiyah), Broque and Ezekiel (Natalia) Benson, daughter Thaighler Adkins of Dover, DE, 3 sisters Vivian and Emma Adkins and Sharon Cannon of Dover, DE, 3 half sisters Paula Cosby and Pamela Kennedy of DE, Janette Burris of NC, a half brother Paul Smith of Kentucky, 5 Aunts Rosemary Lewis, Martha Johnson, Helen Brown, Jewette Hitchens, and Joanne Baynard of Delaware, 2 Uncles Alfred Baynard and Charles Baynard of Delaware, 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; 3 special friends Courtney Benson, Bonnie Evans, and Wesley Thomas.
A viewing will be held on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 11am to 12pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 12pm. Burial will follow in Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery in Frederica, DE.
