Joseph Lyle Hamilton II, age 48, of Dover, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 18, 2018 after his long battle with cancer.
Joe was born on December 13, 1969 in Dover, Delaware, the son of the late Joseph Hamilton I and Norene (Hudson) Hamilton. Joe met Debbie in 1996 and after 6 years of dating his true love, they were married on April 13, 2002, in Dover, DE.
Joe was a devoted husband and father. He helped raise two lovely daughters, Ashley and Alexis. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed fishing, camping and playing cards and games. He spent his life ensuring his family had what they needed and that they knew he loved them. Joe was employed with Southern States as a HVAC technician. He enjoyed meeting his customers and took pride in providing them the best possible service. Joe was a man of honor, compassion, and humility. He helped his family, friends, neighbors and strangers whenever he could, even if it meant he would have to do without something for himself. Joe was well known for his positive outlook on life and sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie (Thompson); his daughters, Ashley, and Alexis; his faithful companion, Oscar; his sisters, Susan Phagan, Rita DiDolce, and Aljean Lautenslager and her husband Jerry; his brother John Hamilton. Also, Joe is predeceased by his brother, Martin Hamilton.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Grace Presbyterian Church, 350 McKee Rd., Dover, DE 19904. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial and graveside service will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Dover, Delaware.
