Mark G. Morris, Sr., age 50, of Cheswold, Delaware, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, May 6, 2018.
Born in Warwick, Maryland on June 2, 1967, Mark grew up on Sudler’s Row in Blackiston, Delaware.
Mark worked for Jonah Cox & Sons Flooring for years before going to work for Weaver Sanitation, then back to his love of tree work for Davey Tree and Asplundh Tree Services until he retired do to health issues.
He loved watching wrestling, his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, and enjoyed fishing, crabbing, listening to Country Music and 80’s Rock-N-Roll. He also loved spending time with family and friends, specially his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, James M. Powell; his mother, Ethel Marie Morris; his father, William G. Morris; his brother, Willy Morris; nephews, Matthew and Medford; niece, April; grandfather, Mitchell Poore; grandmother, Susie Poore; and his paternal grandmother, Beatrice Webbert.
Mark is survived by his uncle and aunt, Ernest and Erma Webbert; brother, Billy (Jen) of Clayton, DE; two sisters, Alice (Barry) Stevens of Ridgley, MD and Lillian “Peachy” Morris of Kenton, DE; two sons, Mark G. Morris, Jr. (Yaschi) of Magnolia, Delaware and David Cloak of Dover, Delaware; two daughters, Erin N. Morris (Jeremy) of Cheswold, Delaware and Ashley Cloak of Dover, Delaware; his beloved friend and ex-wife, Melissa J. Powell of Cheswold, Delaware; his three closest cousins, Buddy Poore, Bobby Poore, and Loretta Dillmore, all of Cheswold, Delaware; his very special mother-in-law, Linda Powell of Golts, Maryland; 7 grandchildren, Eddie, Nate, Tony, Gary, Lilly, David, Jr., and Ricardo; and he was excited to meet his newest granddaughter in July upon her arrival; 4 step-grandchildren, Alvin, Josiah, I’yah, and Quintin; 2 nieces, Sandy and Jasmine; and 6 nephews, Kevin, Willy, Jose, Jeffery, Derrick, and Micheal.
A fundraiser to support Mark’s Going Home Service will be on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11 am at 301 Stevenson Drive in Magnolia, Delaware.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 5 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna, Delaware. Funeral services will begin at 6 pm. Burial will be private.
