Michael Rogan Hudgins, age 41, of Dover, DE, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019.
Michael was born on November 5, 1977 in Dover, the son of Carl “Sonny” and Donna Hudgins of Clayton, DE.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiancée, Theresa Snyder; his children, Makenzie Hudgins, Michael Dunn, Michael Snyder, Jacob Snyder, and Tori Snyder; his siblings, Jacqueline (Mike) Usilton, and Mazie (Steve) Long; his nieces and nephews, Donna Hess, Thomas "TJ" Hess, Kristen Long, Andee Usilton, Kenidie Long, Trevor Whitby-Zacheis, and Kohl Long. In addition, he was also survived by a grandmother, two great aunts, other aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends.
Michael attended Smyrna High School and went on to obtain his Associates Degree in Psychology. Michael loved drilling wells for John's Well Drilling while pursuing higher education. John was not only his employer, but a good friend. The last few years he worked for JT Hoover Concrete, Inc., where he enjoyed working.
Michael was intelligent and quick witted. He loved making everyone laugh and playing practical jokes. Michael was an athletic person. He enjoyed several different sports and excelled at many. His love for shooting pool was above any other. He loved playing cards, chess and board games. Michael enjoyed playing baseball and softball, especially with the family. He was an avid Phillies fan. He loved riding motorcycles, usually terrifying whomever he could convince to get on the back. He also liked motocross, watching and riding. He also enjoyed winter sports, gliding down the slopes on his snowboard. Michael was a strong man at the age of 41, stronger than guys half his age.
Music was very important to Michael. He listened to different genres as well as different eras of music. He listened to everything from Hank Williams, Sr. and Jr., Randy Travis, Alabama, and Kelly Clarkson to Alicia Keys, Akon and Usher to Kidd Rock, Bad Company, Ed Sheeran, Lucas Graham and a host of other too numerous to mention. In addition to listening to his favorite music, he enjoyed singing karaoke with his family. Not only did he enjoy it, he was a great singer.
Michael enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Bud, Cocoa and Mason. He would take them on long walks and travel with them everywhere.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 from 11 am to 1 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be mailed or called into Faries Funeral Home to help defray costs.
