Robert Benjamin Scorah, 93, of North Fort Myers, Florida and formerly of Smyrna, Delaware, passed away to go be with his Lord and Saviour on Sunday, December 31,2017 at 12 p.m., in the Hope Hospice Care Center of Cape Coral, Florida.
Robert was born on February 23, 1924, in Smyrna, Delaware to Benjamin and Gladys Scorah. On September 19, 1970, Robert married Phyllis Pearce, who was the apple of his eye but sadly passed away in 2014 after 44 years of marriage.
There was never a day Robert didn't think about his lovely wife or talked about the fond memories of his childhood, his army days during WWII and the many friends they met along their journey in life. Everyone who met Robert and Phyllis knew they were in love and were spellbound by their general hospitality as it carried over to their neighbors in the community of Smyrna, De. and then their next home in Tamiami Village.
Preceeding him in death is Phyllis, his wife; his parents, Benjamin and Gladys Scorah, Richard a twin brother, and another brother, Vernon Scorah, all of Smyrna, DE.
Robert served in the US Army during WWII and was always a patriot to the end of his life. He sold cars at Willis Chevrolet/I G Burtons in Smyrna, DE. After the war, he retired, then went to work for the US postal service as a mailman in Smyrna, DE, until he retired once again. Finally Robert and Phyllis retired to North Fort Myers, Florida, enjoying and living out their days in the Tamiami Village.
Robert is survived by two nephews, Robert V. Scorah of Merritt Island,FL; Wayne Scorah of Millsboro,DE; and three nieces, Doris Best-Kroeger of Lewes, DE; Donna Zook of Shawano,WI and Gladys Sammons of Milford, DE.
The Internment will be held in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna, DE on Flag Day, June 14, 2018 at 11am where he and his wife will be laid to rest together. In Memory of them, memorials may be made to Hope Hospice of Cape Coral, 2430 Diplomat Pkwy, E. Cape Coral, FL33909 and The VFW of Smyrna, DE on 4941 Wheatley Pond Road, Smyrna, DE 19977.
