Roy James, Sr., age 99, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019.
Roy was born in Onancock, VA, the son of Ollie and Emma Sue James February 10, 1920.
Roy served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1944. After the Army, he wore many hats during his long life but is likely best known as a successful business man at Woodland Beach.
Roy, and his now late wife Helen, built and operated a boat rental/bait and tackle shop for recreational crabbing and fishing. Roy enjoyed hobbies as a boat builder, an avid boater, a patented inventor, painter, as well as some impressive stipple engravings on glass.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by two brothers, Granville and Everett James, and recently his wife of 64 years, Helen James.
Roy is survived by son, Roy James, Jr. (Shiela), daughter, Phyllis Cox (Rick), son, Randy James (Kelly), grandson, Brandon James (Kristin), granddaughter, Robin James (Alex), granddaughter, Rachel James, and two great grandchildren - Braiden and Jacob, and many adoring nieces and nephews.
Roy will be laid to rest with military honors at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Delaware in a private ceremony.
