Harold (Jim) Elbridge MastenDecember 8, 1928 ~ October 19, 2017 (age 88)
Harold (Jim) Masten, age 88 and Helen K. Masten, age 89, both of Kenton, DE, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017.
Jim was an auto mechanic for the majority of his life. He worked at Ennis Olds in Smyrna and then opened his own business; Masten’s Garage and ran it for several years. To this day, he still worked on his family and friends cars. He enjoyed growing a garden every year and riding on his lawnmower in the 4th of July parade as the Kenton Police car.
Helen was a homemaker and the bookkeeper of his business. She was a huge fan of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Elvis. They both enjoyed going to bingo and the slots. They had been married for 71 years.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Isaac (Ike) Masten and Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Amanda Jewell.
They are both survived by their five children, Louise Amick (Steve), Jimmy Masten, Sr. (Joanne), Betty A. Cook (Guy), Joanne Albia (Mike), and Jackie Keel (Randy); four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna, where friends may visit from 5 to 7 pm. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim & Helen Masten may be made to Delaware Veterans, Inc., Post 2, PO Box 417, Dover, DE 19903-0417.
