John E. Zook, age 66, of Smyrna, Delaware, passed away on Christmas Eve at Christiana Hospital with family by his side.
He was born on June 10, 1952 in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Doran F. Zook and Naomi “Sparkie” (Heister) Zook.
John served his country with honor in the United States Air Force for seven years and retired from Playtex Products after many years.
John enjoyed deep sea fishing, golfing, Sudoku puzzles, and watching Jeopardy. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Susan McClure.
John is survived by his wife, Debbie; his three children, Abbie O’Grady and her husband Patrick Kelly O’Grady, Jr. of Smyrna, Jonathan of Smyrna, and Rachael Zuber and her husband Shawn of Clayton; 5 grandchildren, Meghan, Hannah, Aidan, Doran, and Ava; and his siblings, D. Fred, Jr., Norman, and Wendy Swartz, all of Mifflintown, Pennsylvania.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 3 to 4pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna. Memorial services will begin at 4pm. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contribution to Boy Scouts Troop 124 Licking Creek, c/o St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 8489 Licking Creek Rd., Mifflintown, PA 17059.
