Paul M. VanDenburg, 92, of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.
Paul was born on November 3, 1925, in Baldwinsville, NY, the son of Willard and Oleatha Shultz VanDenburg.
He lived most of his life in the DC metro area. He attended Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Paul served in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1947. During his service with the Navy, Paul served as a Corpsman (medic), and was stationed in Virginia, New York, and London. After being Honorably Discharged from the service, Paul served as a police officer on the DC Metropolitan police force, and then as a clerk for the FBI. Later, Paul worked in the Executive Protective Service, a branch of the United States Secret Service. Paul served under five Presidents-Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Ford.
As a young man, Paul enjoyed boxing, hockey, basketball and football. Later, Paul continued to have many hobbies, including dancing and environmental clean-up.
Paul is survived by his wife Wilma Mallonee of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; his daughter Valerie Burchianti (Ralph) of Greensboro, PA; his granddaughter Laura Ziats (Shane) of Masontown, PA; his granddaughter Jamie Lopez (Gustavo) of Sewickely, PA; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Carol VanDenburg and his sister Faye Clarissa Stray, both of upstate New York.
